Part-Time WordPress Solutions Engineer

We’re looking for a new team member to help support our growing membership! You’ll be tasked with solving problems and coming up with creative solutions for our members on a daily basis. It’s challenging, fun, and rarely boring.

This is a part-time position with the possibility of full-time after a trial period. 20-30 hours per week to start. This is a remote position; work from home or wherever you’d like!

You’ll be working directly with members and as part of our team. You should enjoy problem-solving and not give up if Google doesn’t immediately present a quick answer. We’re looking for people who are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing, and who can expertly communicate solutions to members.

Most of all, you need to love working on WordPress websites and have a positive, energetic personality. The interactions our members have with our team is a big part of why they stay with us, and you’ll be a key part of that experience!


You’ll handle incoming support requests as they arrive and provide solutions as needed. This usually entails things like debugging plugins or themes, adding new content or functionality, optimizing performance, or simply giving technical support or advice to members.

When not handling support requests you’ll be maintaining member sites, applying updates, and testing to ensure proper functionality. This is a never-ending process but one that is critical for our members and so we take it very seriously.

We’ll also ask you to help with things at Barrel Roll, including adding new functionality and documentation and generally contributing your fantastic ideas. Your input will matter.


  • 3 years of experience administrating WordPress on a regular basis.
  • Proficient programming capabilities in CSS/HTML/PHP/JS.
  • Experience with responsive design. The more design experience you have, the better.
  • Familiar with relational databases, comfortable in PHPMyAdmin, and can understand and execute SQL queries.

About the Role

As a senior full stack developer on our team you’ll be primarily responsible for owning the delivery, quality and performance of our web applications. Your Role:

We have clients that want us to sell lots of software development for them in the US. Your focus is to generate leads for them using the system we have developed and then closing the sales qualified leads you generate. This is fulltime and flexible work from home opportunity. You will create all campaigns for up to 5 initial clients, manage a small offshore lead gen team, create reporting and metrics for our clients and sell every lead you generate or they provide. For our clients we are currently doing prospect list generation, cold emails, target emails, LinkedIn messaging, content creation and all sales activities from initial call through contract with some light account management. It is a very diverse day with lots of different types of activities.

Some tasks will be to send out emails, manage your appointments, enter data into CRMs, create reports for our clients and weekly lead gen meetings. We work in multiple CRMS, like Hubspot, Pipedrive, Zoho and Highrise with our clients. Your core skills are lead generating and sales!

Your Compensation:

You will be paid as a contractor on a 1099 and will have total flexibility with your hours and how you generate leads and sell for our clients. You will be paid from the base revenue we charge for lead generation and we have no guarantees. You only earn from what your clients pay us.

You can expect a base of around $6000/mo and your big incentive is commission for deals you close. This is how we all ultimately make money, generating software sales for our clients.

You will manage a Pod, each Pod starts off with 5 initial lead generation clients that we work together to sign. We set up all the systems, train you on the all systems and then you run your business. You are responsible for your training time plan the initial 6 weeks as training and this is without pay.

We charge $2450 per month for lead generation services and we get 10 to 20% commission on payments made on software contracts. You will pay a $1000/mo licensing fee, 5% admin and support fee and we split the sales commission. You also pay for all your own systems and tools. If we are interested we will give you access to all of the numbers, decks and contracts.

Your desire and drive should get you to six figures in the first 15 months!

Senior PHP Engineer

SkyVerge is looking for a talented full-stack senior PHP engineer to join our team and help build our portfolio of WordPress plugins for WooCommerce. You'll write code that helps power mission-critical tools for millions of online stores.

The Role
You’ll focus on building new features and maintaining existing code, while also helping with code reviews and customer support. With over 60 different plugins, there’s a wide variety of work. You might spend time on some complicated frontend interactions using JS, then switch focus to working with a tricky external REST API for a while, and later work on adding unit/acceptance tests to our framework code.

You’ll have the opportunity to really dive into a problem and understand it before crafting a well-engineered, high quality solution. We believe the best work happens when given lots of uninterrupted time to think and code.

Our plugins are built on top of WordPress and designed to work with WooCommerce, so we use PHP 5.3+ (moving soon to PHP 5.6 minimum) and we write all new JS in ES6. We follow a superset of the WordPress coding standards and actively invest in tooling & testing to improve both the quality of our products and the happiness of our team building them.

We work primarily through GitHub and Slack, so you should be able clearly express your ideas via comments and messages. All new code is tested and peer-reviewed, so you’ll be able to both learn from the rest of the team and share your knowledge.

As one of our senior engineers, the team will look to you for advice and direction. You’ll help shape our best practices, decide on libraries & tooling, and refactor older or underperforming parts of the codebase. Your specific responsibilities will include:
  • Serving as a lead solutions architect of INN Labs’ publishing tools, WordPress framework, and large-scale projects to ensure they reflect and meet industry and client goals.
  • Managing the technical infrastructure for INN’s technology projects.
  • Having a strong voice and say in INN’s overall technology strategy.
  • Understanding client/member journalism and business goals and framing technology tools and product solutions and projects that meet them.
  • Delivering performant and well-documented code on time and on budget.
  • Guiding newsrooms and media business staff to find and implement the tools and strategies that best advance their goals, including those created by INN Labs and developers at INN member organizations.
  • Supporting other team members with code reviews, knowledge shares, and direct mentorship.
  • Supporting independent news media by serving as a thought leader on emerging technologies and best practices for news technology. This may include occasional posting in the INN Labs blog, presenting at news/tech conferences, and contributing to newsletters.
